Come out with us to the Boston At-Large City Council Candidates Forum!
In nearly all TQNC gatherings, housing has been a huge topic.
We’ve connected on how we want to feel safe and seen in our communities and shared ideas on how we’d like housing to change in Boston (*cough* less expensive *cough*) so on National Coming Out Day, we’d love to invite you to come with us to the Boston At-Large City Council Candidates Forum.
We won’t be hosting, so we can’t promise snacks but this is a great opportunity for us to show up together and discuss housing with at least four new Councilors joining in 2024. After the forum we’re planning on grabbing a snack or tea so we can keep the fun going.
The location is:
MCLE Auditorium, 10 Winter Place, Boston, MA, 02108
For this event, we’re asking RSVP-ers to add their phone numbers, since we’ll be meeting ahead of time and coordinating via email would be tough.
Please RSVP to the Housing Forum and then fill out our RSVP so we can coordinate a day-of meeting spot.
Please join regardless of where you live! Our events Downtown and in Allston-Brighton had attendees from JP, the West End, Chinatown, East Boston, Dorchester, Allston, Brighton, Downtown, the North End, Mission Hill, the Fenway, Cambridge, and Somerville.
About TQNC
When neighborhood and City community meetings are spaces where we have to invest mental energy into whether we can safely exist as our whole selves in front of neighbors and strangers, showing up can be uncomfortable, and it’s hard to fully engage.
We’ve founded The Queer Neighborhood Council to create a space where LGBTQ+ community members and our allies can learn about neighborhood and Boston matters, be visible to and connect with our elected and City officials, and collectively organize for the City services, support, and changes we need, just like any other resident.
Yes, sometimes that’s queer-specific issues — but it’s also our kids’ education, the upkeep of our sidewalks, construction disruptions, and rats. All the normal day-to-day stuff of living in Boston.
